The BIED Society would like to welcome Armen V. Sahakyan our new International Political Economy 2015 Fellow. Armen will be Co Chairing the Washington D.C. Social Committee. Armen V. Sahakyan is a M.A. candidate at the John Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), specializing in Global Theory & History and International Economics. He received his B.A. degree in International Political Economy (summa cum laude) from Bloomfield College as the Class of 2013 Valedictorian. Mr. Sahakyan is the Cofounder and Executive Director of the Eurasian Research & Analysis (ERA) Institute Washington, D.C. Office and is an Analyst of Eurasian Affairs at the Political Developments Research Center (PDRC) based in Yerevan, Armenia. His articles have been published in The National Interest, The Christian Science Monitor, The European Affairs, The Hill, among other international media outlets. Mr. Sahakyan has presented his research at various professional conferences, including at Columbia University, Georgetown University, Northeast Political Science Association, and the American Benefit-Cost Analysis Society. Among his other positions, Mr. Sahakyan has previously served as an Adviser to the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the United Nations in New York City.
I am very excited to join the BIED Society and take an active role in developing the organization further. My hope is to be able to produce quality research, participate and present at the conferences, and help in organizing social and professional events. I see a great potential for BIED Society's growth in the coming months and years, which is why I have decided to dedicate some of my time and resources to taking part in this exciting journey. I eagerly await meeting new people within the organization and working together to reach new horizons.
